Bindweed Sleeper (Bedellia somnulentella)

Two tenanted mines were found at the Cromwell Bottom open day on Aug. 1st. It's usually next to impossible to find these but every so often they can appear in large numbers.

One of the larvae was pre-pupal and duly pupated the following day. They have a distinctive, beaked profile.

Amazingly the adult emerged after just six days. Pupal stages for moths don't come much shorter than that!
